One scary experience for me.

15/10/2007. 8.30PM.

The background was the ROLAND music fair banner. 10 polices were on stage covering and securing the stage, some were scattered in the mall. Security guards were blowing whistle demanding the crowds not to stand near the railings of every floors to watch.

Sungei Wang lower foyer, performance stage. One women lied on the ground, with bloods stain besides her head.

The scene was stunning, the image is vivid. I never seen a dead body in my life. When I saw it from 1 level going down the elevator, I was stunned and speechless. It never came to me as somebody died, only after I saw the police were covering the body with a black plastic bag.

My heart beat was going very fast once I saw the police were covering the body. So to be safe, I walked to the 7-11 at the Ground floor to buy a Nescafe can drink to comfort my fasten heart beat.

“what happened to the women?” I asked the store keeper. “Tak sure la, I dengar got someone dropped. Kepala jatuh dulu.”

HOLY Shit!! The images starts running thru my mind. The polices were securing the scene and a dead women wearing the a blue jeans and a dark blue collar tee with her face facing down.

With slow motion it repeats of how the police were covering the plastic bag over the women. With all the whistles blowing asking the crowd not to look at it.

But strange enough, I did not see any reporters there taking pictures or anything. Why aren’t there any reporters ler? I wonder, when all the police were there, crowd were there and the missing puzzle of the whole pictures was that the reporters were not there, hopefully Sg Wang’s management did not intend to cover it up but the reporters just arrived late.

SDP they called it..

It was my induction programme organized by LDC(Learning Development Center) from UOBM(United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd) where specially designed for all the new/noob/ fresh blood to the bank.

Through out the three days, I learnt about BAFIA( Banking and Financial Institution Act) and AMLA( Anti Money Laundering Act), that’s for rules and regulations..

Day 1- History of UOB, BAFIA and Fish philosophy.

BAFIA consist of hundreds over Acts, LDC only touch on few acts which is very relevant to all.

Of which one that I found new or should I say surprise.

Under the Sec 62.

I cannot have have any credit facilities with the bank including my immediate family (parents, spouse, children) unless is state in the Scheme of service.

Any credit facilities that my parents signed with the bank must be informed to the bank when signing the offer letter. Then they will decide on whether the credit facilities will have to withdrawn or refinancing by another bank.

Day 2- Compliance, Trustee, HR and Competency Model.

Now day 2 is the most tired of three days cause the programme is super dry, all is talking talking and remember and remember.

The most interesting part was the Trustee,

Now only I know that….

If you don’t have a will, then your wealth will be distribute among 3 parties.

Spouse(1/4), Children(1/2) and Parents(1/4).

For illustration purpose..

If your parents died without a will, the 1/4 share of wealth will be distribute to your brother and sisters and the lists goes on..

That’s not the only concern, when you died all your wealth and properties will be freeze by GOV to ensure the safety of your assets. To unfreeze it, it usually took about 6months to 1 year to request a Letter of authorizations(LA) IF you have a will.

BUT if you don’t have a will, then the process of getting the LA will take about 5-6 years(if you are lucky).

So go and ask everybody around you(especially your parents, not telling them to leave this world, JIC(just incase) start writing a will for themselves. There is alot of Will writers / providers like UOB Trustee/ Rockwill. If you want to have one, Let me know, I could introduce you to the right person.(lol..)  

Day 3- Banking Products, Unit Trust, Bancassurance products, AMLA and Whale Done.

Nothing much on the 3rd day, Bancassurance means assurance products distributed through banks branches. Cross over between bank and assurance products. For UOB, they are teaming up with UNI Asia.

Same old sales pitch and probing technique that was taught years after years. Don’t the consumers get more clever in avoiding the questions?
